Clinic

In the service of the patient

General informationen

The Parkinson-Klinik Wolfach is a neurological hospital that treats acute cases of Parkinson disease with its focus on a diagnostic and therapeutic approach.

Since the clinic’s foundation in 1953, over 35,000 patients suffering from Parkinson’s disease and related movement disorders have benefited from the experience and expertise of our physicians and therapists.

With 55 beds, the clinic offers patients a small and manageable environment. Bright, comfortably appointed rooms and attractively laid out gardens guarantee patients rest and relaxation. To be admitted to the clinic for in-patient treatment, all the patient needs is a hospitalisation referral from his GP or specialist consultant. Approval from his health insurance fund is not required. Private patients and self-pay patients also have the option of out-patient treatment by the clinic’s chief physician, Dr. Gerhard A. Fuchs.

Maintaining independence – improving the quality of life

The patients’ wellbeing is the primary concern of physicians, therapists and nursing staff. Their aim is to minimise the physical discomfort and emotional distress of patients, to preserve their independence and to improve their quality of life – as well as that of the patients’ relatives. The pleasant, personal atmosphere and close relationship that develops between the Parkinson-Klinik and its patients – due not least of all to the clinic’s independent status – are instrumental in this respect. To maintain these standards, the satisfaction of patients is regularly tested and the range of treatments optimised. The clinic’s quality management has been certified many times over.

In October 2003, the so-called ‘bed house’ was inaugurated as part of the clinic’s 50th anniversary. This spacious new building houses 30 patient rooms – some with a panoramic view of the Black Forest – a 176-m² gymnasium with built-in climbing wall, therapy and conference rooms, television room and library, vestry and meditation room, dining hall, and a meeting room in the courtyard.

The adjoining 10,000-m² park-like therapy area is deliberately functional in layout. With numerous steps, inclinations and level areas, it supports the clinic’s holistic approach to treatment. Numerous benches, pavilions and a delightful pond enable patients and guest to rest and relax in an attractive setting.

Optional benefits

Alongside standard hospital services, patients at the Parkinson-Klinik Wolfach are also entitled to make use of optional benefits. Separately invoiced optional benefits have to be paid for by the patient himself unless the latter is privately insured or has additional private insurance that covers the costs of the optional benefits.

Optional benefits include the medical services of a physician (chief physician) and accommodation. The optional benefit ‘accommodation’ offers accommodation in a one or two-bed room alongside a variety of special services such as support by a team of service staff who carry out errands outside the clinic and make contact to the Förderverein Parkinson-Hilfe Wolfach e.V.

Private out-patient treatment by chief physician

A private out-patient service offered by the chief physician is affiliated to the clinic. The rendered services are charged according to the established scale of charges and fees for private physicians. For a private consultation with Dr. Gerd A. Fuchs, contact Ms. Jakob. Consultation times: Mon. to Friday 8 to 12 and 13 to 16 hrs. on 0 78 34/9 71-112.

Patients making use of the private out-patient service and their relatives will find comfortable accommodation in the clinic’s own ‘Gästehaus am Park’. This facility has seven studio-style rooms with patio or balcony, breakfast room and conservatory.

Quality assurance

A systematic and certified form of quality management was introduced at the Parkinson-Klinik Wolfach for the first time in 1997. The certificate issued by the Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN) based on DIN ISO 9001 requires regular examination and improvement of treatment methods and medical care geared towards patient satisfaction.

The key philosophy and the daily obligation of members of our staff at the clinic is to focus all endeavours on the wellbeing of the patient and his orher family. The personal atmosphere and close relationship that evolves between the clinic and patient are an important aspect of our holistic approach to therapy.

Regular conferences for scientists and clinic staff at the clinic ensure that the latest scientific findings are taken into consideration in our range of treatments and therapies.
