Clinic
FAQ
Is the Parkinson-Klinik Wolfach also a convalescent and rehabilitation clinic?
No. The Parkinson-Klinik Wolfach is a neurological clinic that provides intensive care on an in-patient basis. According to our legal status, we do not offer convalescent treatment or rehabilitation measures.
Which patients are admitted to the Parkinson-Klinik?
Patients from all health insurance funds and self-paying patients are admitted.
Which documents does the clinic require to admit patients?
To admit patients for in-patient treatment, the clinic needs a hospitalisation referral issued by the patient’s GP or neurologist and a clinical diagnosis. After the consultants have examined the documents, the patient is sent a copy of our Treatment Contract. As soon as the clinic has all the documents it needs and a bed is free, the patient is informed either in writing or by telephone of the admission date.
For out-patient treatment, patients should bring with them medical reports, lists of medication and scan images (e.g. PET, SPECT scans, X-rays, ultrasound images).
Does the patient’s health insurance fund have to approve admission to the Parkinson-Klinik Wolfach?
No. All that is needed is the hospitalisation referral from the patient’s GP or specialist consultant. Approval from the health insurance fund is not required.
Do statutory health insurance funds pay for out-patient treatment?
No. Because the private out-patient services offered at the Parkinson-Klinik Wolfach by the clinic’s chief physician are not licensed by statutory health insurance funds, the costs of such services are unfortunately not covered by statutory health insurance funds.
How much does out-patient treatment cost?
The cost of out-patient treatment usually costs between 150 and 300 Euro.
When is the chief physician, Dr. Gerd A. Fuchs, available to speak on the phone?
Arrange an appointment with Ms. Jakob. Consultation hours: Monday to Friday
8 – 12 and 13 – 16 hrs., Tel: 07834/971-112.
How long do patients have to wait for in-patient/out-patient treatment?
Waiting times vary but are usually between two to four weeks. They do not depend on what kind of accommodation you require (single, two-bed or three-bed room). In January and February, we are often able to admit patients at short notice.
How long does in-patient treatment at the Parkinson-Klinik Wolfach last?
In-patient treatment lasts an average of 16 days. Patients usually stay two to two and a half weeks depending on the decision of the doctor who is treating them.
What does in-patient treatment involve?
In-patient treatment centres on a comprehensive diagnosis and individual drug therapy for the patient. When and in what form a specific drug-based therapy is introduced has to be decided from case to case. Depending on the patient’s condition and tolerance, different drugs with complimentary effects are usually prescribed in combination. Particular emphasis is also placed on physiotherapy which can significantly influence the patient’s mobility and motility.
This also includes individual fall prevention training. Another focus of our treatment is psychotherapeutic support of patients and relatives (they are taught how to cope with the illness and offered cognitive, linguistic and fine motor skill training). Patients can also take part in a creative group for handicrafts or singing.
Can accompanying persons stay at the clinic overnight?
Accompanying persons will find comfortable accommodation in the clinic’s own “Gästehaus am Park” which is located nearby. The clinic itself has one room available for relatives. Because of its location on the top floor, however, it is only partially suitable for relatives with a walking disability.
What kind of clothes does the patient need at the clinic?
Sports shoes, a tracksuit or comfortable clothing, and swimwear.
What kind of accommodation is paid for by statutory health insurance funds?
For patients without additional insurance, statutory health insurance funds only pay for accommodation in a three-bed room. Statutory health insurance patients are also required by law to pay a deductible amount which is currently ten Euro per calendar day for a maximum of 28 days within one calendar year: this is payable to the clinic and then transferred by the clinic to the health insurance fund.
Accommodation in a single or two-bed room is only possible for statutory health insurance patients with no additional insurance coverage for an additional fee according to the terms of the contractually agreed optional benefit “Accommodation”.
